Letters to Grayson: 6 Years

Dear Grayson,

A few weeks ago you turned six years old. Six! You have had so many big changes in your life this past year, and we are all so thankful how well  you have transitioned. You got a new brother, we moved, you had another hip surgery and started at a new school all in the past 12 months. That’s a lot.

For your birthday, we celebrated with two family parties, one with Daddy’s side at our house and one with my side at the ranch. You loved everyone singing to you- music continues to be your love language.

You are doing so well in school, and we are so thankful you have such an awesome teacher who you adore and who adores you. You got to be on the announcements for your birthday to show off the book dedicated to you for your school library. I love that you get to participate in things like this.

Health-wise, you are doing amazingly well. You haven’t had a seizure in over a year and a half, and your hospitalizations are becoming further and further apart. You still struggle a lot with retching and spasticity, both which hurt my heart for you. It must be so difficult to live in a body that is constantly fighting against itself.

You now weigh 42 pounds- such a big boy- but still fit perfectly in my lap. Grayson, you center me. When life is swirling with crazy, you are my calm. Holding you and singing to you just makes life feel right.

I love you so, so much, G. Happy SIX!

Love,
Mommy
