Help Me

Internet, I need your help.

I’ve been thinking about changing the name of my blog for awhile, since the current one doesn’t exactly fit our current life circumstances. I picked Snips, Snails and Puppy Dog Tales when I was pregnant with Grayson because 1. I was having a boy and 2. there were a LOT of puppy dog tales (and tails) in our house at the time.

Now, I have a girl in addition to the boy, and as of a few days ago, no more tails. We finally decided to let Hank, our last remaining dog of the four, go to a new family. He’d been boarded since Charlotte was born, and last week went to live with a foster family who has acreage and a pond, ideal for a bloodhound who loves to run and explore. Due to other circumstances, we aren’t moving any time in the near future, so it’s time to let him go permanently. Again, a hard decision, but the right one.

So I need a new name, but I am awful at coming up with clever names (seriously, sometimes I’ll have a post written but it takes me another 20 minutes to come up with a title, ugh.).

I want something catchy but not cheesy. I don’t want my name or the names of my kids in the name, nor do I want it to have Mito in the name (because I do write a lot about Grayson and Mito, but I don’t want it to be the only focus of the blog).

Also, I know a lot of people say WordPress is soooo much better than blogger- why is that? Is it a ton of work to switch over and transfer your posts? Or what about buying  your own domain name- is that expensive? I’ve been blogging for almost 3 years now, and evidently I am still clueless.

Any brilliant suggestions out there?

WordPress is WAY better. I used blogger for 3 years – my only regret now is not switching sooner. Transferring posts & comments is super easy and automated. Takes about 5 minutes. WordPress' commenting system is hands down the best thing about it – it is SO much easier to follow responses to your comments (as a reader) & respond to comments (as the author). There are tons of free designs that are super customizable as well. My blog is a free template!I also bought my own domain while I did the switch – I think it's $24/year? Not necessary, but it is nice to have. You can do that right through wordpress if you'd like. Good luck thinking of a new title!

If you switch to WordPress, let me know how it goes! I loooove our new Jux blog, but I just found out it is shutting down soon. I don't want to revert back to our old blog because I want to keep that one mostly private, but I need somewhere public to share for family/friends.

Ha! I was going to suggest you talk to Josey about switching! I see she's already outlined it for you. ;)I am clueless too. I'm on WordPress because we hate google in this house (major competitor to B's company), but I do love it and would use it again and again.Good luck with the name. It took me a long time to name my blog. I chose a phrase from of one of my favorite songs

I recently switched to wp over blogger, and I am SO glad! I didn't try to move any archives over or anything, just started fresh. So I can't speak to the ease of moving those… I will say it takes a bit to get "set up" and used to wp, but it's not that bad and then it's way worth it. I had fits with blogger all the time! People not able to comment, or blogger going funky and messing with my post or what not. No problems at all with wp so far, and it's easier to track the blogs I like and do what I want. As far as a blog name…. I suck. Seriously, I come up with only lame ideas. What are your hobbies that you love? Or what do you like to do as a family? Make it personal, but not overly personal. I don't know, but I'm excited to see what you decide!
